Anubis Tattoo is a private tattoo studio in Čepin, just outside Osijek, Croatia. The studio is run by Zoran Pocrnić – Žvaki, tattoo artist, owner of Anubis and creator of the Think What You Ink approach.
I work by appointment only, primarily on individual, custom-designed tattoo projects developed around the person, the idea, the body, the required size and the placement of the tattoo. A significant part of my work consists of large-scale projects, connected compositions and combinations of different tattoo styles within one coherent design.
A strong tattoo project does not begin with choosing a ready-made image. It begins with a conversation about what the person wants, why they want it and what can realistically be created on their body.
During the consultation, we define the subject, style, size, placement and the way the composition should follow the anatomy. The design is developed only after these foundations are clear. The goal is not merely to create an impressive image, but a tattoo that works as a complete idea and can be executed properly on a real body.
Anubis is not a walk-in studio. Working privately allows me to focus on one scheduled client and one project without interruptions, crowds or unnecessary pressure.
This model is not intended as a form of artificial exclusivity. Its purpose is concentration, privacy and enough time for discussion, professional assessment, preparation and execution.
I acquired my first professional tattoo equipment in 2001. Anita and I opened Anubis on 19 March 2004.
Colour realism played an important role in my professional development, but my current work is not limited to a single style. The style and technique are chosen according to the needs of the project. Where appropriate, I combine colour and black-and-grey realism with ornamental, geometric, decorative and other visual approaches to create a composition that suits both the person and the anatomy.
My main focus is on individual, large-scale and demanding tattoo projects in which the design cannot be separated from the body on which it will be tattooed.
Think What You Ink is my own approach to developing a tattoo project. It connects the person, the idea, the body, professional assessment and the long-term result.
Its purpose is not to make the decision more complicated. It is used to clarify the factors that will determine the quality of the entire project: what is being created, why it is being created, how large it needs to be and where it can work best on the body.
The client does not need to understand tattoo styles, technical terminology or the rules of composition. My role is to translate those questions into clear decisions and a workable project.
Anita opened Anubis with me in 2004 and remains an important part of its history. Today, she runs the separate Ta-Ink studio in Čepin and provides piercing services through Piercing by Anita.
The tattoo projects I lead and the piercing services provided by Anita are separate services, each with its own professional field, responsibilities and working process.
Anubis has changed over the years together with the way I work. The current private-studio model is the result of experience and a deliberate decision to prioritise the quality of the project, clear communication and focused work rather than a production-line approach.
Not every working process suits every client. Before scheduling an appointment, we first establish whether the idea, expectations, scope of the project and method of collaboration are compatible.
