TATTOO

Anubis Tattoo is a private tattoo studio in Čepin, just outside Osijek, Croatia. The studio opened on 19 March 2004 and the tattoo projects are led by me, Zoran Pocrnić – Žvaki.

I have worked professionally as a tattoo artist since Anubis opened. My focus is on individual custom projects, large connected compositions and tattoos developed around the person, the idea, the body, the required size and the placement. Style is not a goal in itself; it is a tool that must serve the complete project.

Who is Žvaki

I have been working professionally since the opening of Anubis in 2004. Colour and black & grey realism have played an important part in my work, but I do not force every project into one predetermined style. When the idea requires it, I combine different visual approaches and techniques into one coherent composition.

Over the years I have received more than twenty awards at European tattoo conventions, including Best of Show at the 22nd International Berlin Tattoo Convention in 2012 and Best of Crazy in Berlin in 2014. The full documented record is available on the Experience and accomplishments page.

Awards confirm a part of my professional path, but they are not a substitute for the most important task: developing a tattoo that works for the person who will wear it.

The tattoo projects I work on

I work in colour and black & grey realism, ornamental, geometric and mandala-based approaches, and I combine different styles when the idea, composition and anatomy require it.

I am particularly interested in sleeves, backs, chests, legs and other large-scale projects planned as one complete composition from the beginning, even when they require several sessions.

With a large project, it is not enough for each subject to look good on its own. Direction, detail, negative space and transitions must work with the body and remain readable as one composition.

Think What You Ink

Think What You Ink is my own approach to developing a tattoo project. It begins with a simple fact: a good idea is not yet a finished tattoo. It must be adapted to the body, the required size, the placement, movement and the way the composition will be read over time.

The smallest important detail determines the minimum size. The required size then determines where the tattoo can actually work.

The client does not need to understand tattoo styles, technical terminology or the rules of composition. My role is to translate the idea into clear decisions and a project that can be executed properly.

How the collaboration begins

The first step is an individual tattoo consultation. We discuss the idea, feasibility, style, the smallest important detail, the required size, placement, the flow of the composition and the expected scope of the project.

Consultations are free of charge, must be arranged in advance and do not require a deposit. A tattoo session is booked only after the consultation and confirmation of the project. The current waiting time and the complete booking process are listed on the How to book page.

OUTLAW and REVOLT tattoo sessions

OUTLAW and REVOLT are two active session formats. Both apply to one custom project agreed in advance.

OUTLAW

  • session duration up to 5 hours
  • black & grey: 320 €
  • colour: 340 €
  • time for a short break when needed
  • one item of tattoo aftercare ointment

REVOLT

  • session duration up to 8 hours
  • black & grey: 500 €
  • colour: 520 €
  • time for lunch and short breaks when needed
  • one item of tattoo aftercare ointment

Important rules

  • A deposit is paid only after the consultation and confirmation of the project. It secures the agreed tattoo session; consultations are free of charge.
  • A tattoo session is reserved for one agreed custom project, not for several unrelated small tattoos on different parts of the body.
  • A tattoo may require more than one session. When the project needs to be continued, the next session is arranged and charged separately.
  • I do not copy other artists’ tattoos. Reference images can help explain a direction, but the final project is developed as a separate piece adapted to the client.

Who this way of working is for

This way of working suits a person who wants a custom project developed specifically for them, is willing to discuss feasibility and accepts that size, placement and style must serve the complete tattoo rather than only the initial idea.
